Library

Our Library boasts a collection of carefully selected books that support students to be exposed to rich literature and to wonder and reflect about the world around them.  Our librarian selects books for display that are not only fun to read, but books that support provocations, strong role models and books that support the development of social and emotional learning.

Each class visits the library on a weekly basis during class time.  Students are given the time to browse books, read quietly to themselves or with a partner, supporting them to identify books they love and topics they are interested in.

They are taught book handling skills, how to search for books by their favourite authors and how to use the Dewey Decimal system to search for nonfiction books.

Students are also given the opportunity to visit the library during break times as a quiet space for them to curl up with a book.
